Social Responsibility at Prigat

We believe in contributing to and being part of our community. Our social responsibility program includes community activities as well as environmental ones, targeted at protecting nature and future investment in natural resources.


This year Prigat Israel management and employees have taken part in family-oriented volunteer Community activities, aimed at improving our ties with the community.


Prigat employees are active in a boys' boarding school. Activities are centered on being present in the boys' lives, spreading happiness and providing inspiration to the children; we celebrate birthdays and holidays together, organize artistic activities and games and integrate values of environmental protection and partnership.


Encounters between volunteers and the children provide both sides with a real sense of meaning, thereby creating a new and different life perspective.


While working on producing better and tastier products, we never forget our duty and obligation towards the environment, our community and our customers. As a company which derives the quality of its products first and foremost from the natural wealth surrounding us, we are committed to protecting our environment.


We ensure that our production processes adhere to international environmental standards. Issues such as noise levels, recycling, waste treatment and energy consumption are an inseparable part of our daily agenda.


Advanced environmental protection processes are included in the everyday production routine at our Raw Materials Factory. These processes are focused on reducing the quantity of waste produced at the factory and include the following measures:

 

  • Recycling: Residues of peels and fruit from the squeezing process become animal feed for local farms. This way we are able to significantly reduce the amount of waste, while local farm owners gain natural feed. The bottles and labels used at our Israeli factories are fully recyclable. Our factories are equipped with recycling facilities for bottles, paper, nylon, electronic waste, batteries and more.
  • Wastewater Treatment: Industrial wastewater is treated in a specialized recycling unit. Juice and essential oil residues from the factory's drainage are treated by an environmentally friendly biological method in which bacteria anaerobically decompose wastewater to produce water and gas. This way we achieve three purposes at once: wastewater is treated and does not harm the environment; water produced as a result of the treatment process is directed for agricultural use; and gas produced in the process is used as a source of energy for production processes at the factory.
  • Reduction of Electrical Consumption: Using a mapping process and incorporating smart control systems and energy saving means of illumination, we are able to maximize the efficiency of our use of energy resources, thus reducing the amount of electricity used in our factories.
